The Mauritshuis (literally House of Maurice ) is a Musée located at $the Hague, with the Netherlands, devoted to the art of the 17th century (the Siècle of Dutch gold).

Description

The building was built in 1640 for the Count Johan Maurits van Nassau-Siegen by the architects Jacob van Campen and Pieter Post. The count was then governor of Dutch Brazil, transitory Dutch possession in Pernambouc.

Converted into museum in 1822, it is located on the Hofvijver close to the Parliament of the Netherlands, the Binnenhof.

The museum, composed small rooms intimists, contains inter alia paintings of Johannes Vermeer (Seen of Delft, the Young girl with the pearl, etc) and of Rembrandt van Rijn (the Leçon of anatomy of Doctor Tulp).
