Compared with its neighbor, the island of the Meeting, Mauritius has a not very broken relief. Its coastal plains and a central plate allowed for a long time the extensive farming of the Canne sugar and the The. Of this cane with sugar, the Dutchmen manufactured Rhum, tradition which remained anchored to Mauritius which counts many local rum marks, just like the Bière Phoenix besides.
The barrier of Corail which surrounds the island makes it possible to protect the lagoons and the beaches.
The temperature varies between 20 and 31 centigrade degrees.

Several languages are spoken on the island: English, French, the Creole (Mauritian), the Hindi, the bhojpuri, the Urdu one, Mandarin, the hakka, and the tamoul.
The dodo
Mauritius formerly sheltered an animal now disappeared: the dodo. This large bird, which could not fly, is a species which could live only in Mauritius (where they did not have the predatory ones). Indeed, until the Dutchmen arrive and all exterminate them until the last for their meat, the dodos, not being able to leave this island lost in the middle of the Indian Ocean, developed only over there. Another explanation of the extermination of the dodos was the arrival of the Dutch rats on the island, indeed the rats ate eggs. The frequency of laying of the bird being weak, the dodo did not resist a long time.
Population
The population of Mauritius is the result of several waves of immigrations: initially French colonists, then slaves from Africa, the Chinese and Indians brought in the island to work in the fields of cane with sugar.
