Maurice de Vlaminck (Paris, April 4th 1876 - Rueil-the-Gadelière Eure-et-Loir, October 11th 1958) is a painter current fauvist and Cubiste.

Born in an popular environment, Vlaminck is an autodidact, who refuses to be formed while copying in the museums in order not to lose or affadir his inspiration. Large admiror of Van Gogh, that her friend André Derain made him discover, it is frequently inspired some in his fabrics, as well by using a very pure color “exit of the tube” as by effects of swirl. The outing in the country to Bougival gone back to 1905, in is an striking example. Neglecting the searchs for composition a little, it is interested more in space and emotional qualities of the color.

Vlaminck is one of the painters who make scandal at the time of the Salon of autumn of 1905, known as “the cage with the deer”, with Henri Matisse, André Derain, Raoul Dufy

Vlaminck passes from the Impressionnisme to the Fauvisme, more rebellious, more unslung. It is especially itself, single during the long years of its life of painter. The strong personality of Maurice de Vlaminck is translated clearly, by its ardor and its robustness, in a Peinture with the paste fatty, generous, and with the broad and sure keys.

Maurice Genevoix wrote a book on Vlaminck.
