Maurice de Hesse-Cassel (Moritz von Hessen-Kassel), known as " Éclairé" , born the May 25th 1572 with Cassel, deceased the March 15th 1632 with Eschwege.
It was Landgrave of Hesse-Cassel of 1592 to its abdication in 1627.

Biography
Although Maurice de Hesse-Cassel was high in the faith Lutheran, it converts with the Calvinism into 1605. It required its subjects their conversion with the Calvinism. The conversion of Maurice de Hesse-Cassel was very discussed until the Paix of Augsburg (September 25th 1555). It tried to impose the Calvinism in the Hesse-Marburg, but this change of confession was contrary with the rules of transmissions, it followed a conflict with the Hesse-Darmstadt.
Its actions ruined Hesse-Cassel financially. In 1627, Maurice de Hesse-Cassel abdicated in favor of his/her son Guillaume V of Hesse-Cassel.
Maurice de Hesse-Cassel belonged to the first branch of the Maison of Hesse, itself resulting from the first branch of the House of the Brabant. The line of Hesse-Cassel is oldest of all the branches, always existing, it has for ascending the Voters of Hesse and Hesse-Philippstal.
