Maurice Zermatten is a writer Suisse born the October 22nd 1910 with Saint Martin's day (Valais), deceased the February 11th 2001 with Sion.

Biography

Resulting from a country family, wire of teacher, Maurice Zermatten is the junior by a family of nine children. He passes his childhood in his village where the Moyen-âge is hardly declining (he evokes this time in the saps of childhood account published in 1968). He studies at the Teacher training school, then with the Université of Freiburg. He teaches with the College of Sion, occupation which he follows until the retirement. As from 1952, it is also part-time lecturer to the federal Polytechnic school of Zurich. It publishes its Romance first : the useless Heart in 1936.

It achieves a military career leading it to the rank of Colonel. Maurice Zermatten also chaired the Swiss Société of the writers at the end of the years 1960. In 1969, one reproaches him for having collaborated in the translation of the work Civil defense , for having distributed by the Federal council to all the households Swiss and aiming at reinforcing the civic spirit of the population.

It devotes to many literary kinds like the Romance , the Récit, the Conte, the Nouvelle, the Théâtre, the Essai or the Biographie.

Novelist-born, Maurice Zermatten describes the novel like " a complete kind where the author creates characters, a history, an environment. It is a fiction which corresponds to a reality as long as one draws his imagination in the vie."
