Maurice Vaïsse

Maurice Vaïsse , born in 1942, is a historian French of the International relations. It is one of the principal French specialists in the questions of Politics foreign and defense.

Biography (1942 -)

Aggregate of history in 1967, it is Professor of the universities and teaches the history of the international relations to the Institut of political studies of Paris, after having been professor of Modern history to the Université of Rheims.

Maurice Vaïsse directs also the Commission of publication of the diplomatic documents French (DDF - posterior with 1954) and it is Member of the Commission of the diplomatic files.

He was responsible for the Association for research on peace and the war (Arpeggio) of 1981 at 1995, listener of the Institut of the high studies of national defense of 1985 to 1986, person in charge of the Groupe of French studies of history of the nuclear armament (Grefhan) of 1986 to 2000, president of the Center of studies of history of Defense (CEHD) and the scientific advice of the Fondation Charles-of-Gaulle between 1995 to 2001.

Member of many scientific committees of French and foreign drafting, whose those of the reviews International relations , Politics foreign , National defense , Cold War History Review , of the collection “Return to the texts” of French Documentation, Maurice Vaïsse Co-directs since 1991 the Revue diplomatic history , and directs since 1996 the collection “Stories” of the Bruylant editions. It is also to advise arts person of various French foreign leading committee and publishers.

His/her son Justin is also historian.
