Maurice Tillieux
Maurice Tillieux was born in Huy in the Province from Liege the August 7th 1921 and is deceased the February 2nd 1978 following an car accident. Called Tillieux , he was a draftsman and Belgian scenario writer of Cartoons. He mainly worked for the Éditions Dupuis, in the periodicals Héroïc-Albums , Moustique , Risque-Tout and Spirou . He belongs to the École of Charleroi .
Draftsman
Tillieux exerted in two fields:- humorous detective series, with in particular its creations Felix , Marc Jaguar and especially Gil Jourdan ;
- the gag in a half-page, mainly represented by its Anti-hero César and the series Marc Lebut and his neighbor presenting the adventures of a Ford T.
Scenario writer
Maurice Tillieux carried out many scenarios for draftsmen of the newspaper Spirou . Some were original, others were the adaptation of scenarios already written for its own heroes; for example, the scenario of the album a démoniaque plan of Hair and Tondu (drawing Will) comes from a complete history of Felix.
Style
Tillieux marked its young readers deeply, more than his/her colleagues draftsmen or scenario writers. Follower of the clear Line, it liked to play nevertheless time with other, with the turning of a box, with effects of shade and light “prohibited a priori” by this graphic school. But the Tillieux style is defined above all by the quality of its police intrigues, at the same time dry and humorous dialogs which are not without recalling those of Michel Audiard to the cinema, like by the atmosphere of industrial France of the Glorious Thirty, which impregnates all its work.
