Maurice Lent

Maurice Lent (Wavre May 12th, 1899 - Anderlecht January 13rd, 1978) is a writer and Belgian Poète of French language.

Biography

  • Born in Wavre, from a father house painter and a mother épicière, it passes there her childhood and Maurice Lent is named Maire at 19 years.

In 1912 it writes its first towards laws inspired by a friend of childhood. He becomes teacher of trade in 1918, while continuing to write counting rhymes and poetries. After one period of Futurism (1928-1932), it returns to a simple poetry bound for youth. In 1937, the poet settles with Anderlecht where it will pass the remainder of his life. He will live especially Avenue Nelly Melba a house known as " The House blanche" with Anderlecht which is a museum.
  • After being itself occupied independent Re-examined , Maurice Lent collaborates in the review Anthologie of Georges Linze then enters to the sincere Review (1922)

  • Elected “Prince in poetry” with the Coffee Procope in Creteil in 1975 - a commemorative plaque affixed on the frontage points out it -, Lent saw its work translated in many languages. He in particular is very appreciated for his love for the children, an essential piano of his work (but not only). Rewarded by many literary prizes, illustrated by large artists, his work joint with the simplicity of the form, the expression of a love of life which does not exclude a certain gravity. He also translated into French Dutch-speaking poets.

Jeannine Burny which was the faithful secretary and the MUSE inspirer of Maurice Lent, president of the Foundation, made a book published in Spring 2007 heading " The day from goes away always too early On the steps of Maurice Carême". Editions Root (Brussels.
