Maurice Genevoix
Maurice Genevoix , born the November 29th 1890 with Decize (Nievre) and dead the September 8th 1980 with Xabia (Province of Alicante, Spain), is a French writer.
After having been raises Lycée Pothier with Orleans, it is allowed with the National university.
Maurice Genevoix is mobilized at the time of the First World War in 1914. He is seriously wounded on April 25th 1915 with the Éparges (Meuse). Its testimony of soldier, scrupulously reported in Those of 14 , is an invaluable document on the life of the hairy . The account of Maurice Genevoix, written with rigorously right words, owes its impression of truth with the fact that it was written starting from the notes taken during the event.
It celebrated in the remainder of its work the landscapes, the fauna and the inhabitants of its the native Loire. He wrote also accounts of voyage to the Canada (in particular in the area of the Rocky Mountains) and in Africa. Its residence of Saint-Denis-in-the Hôtel, Vernelles, remains a family residence. Not far from there, beside the church, an old house vigneronne was transformed into museum.
He was elected member of the French Academy in 1946, and belonged to the first committees of the Société of the Poets and Artists of France (the SPAF) at the end of the Années 1950 and at the beginning of the Années 1960.
