Maurice Gemayel

Maurice Gemayel (1910 - 1970) is a politician Lebanon board, several times minister and appointed Maronite of Metn, it is one of the figures of the party Kataëb. Its positions were more moderate than those of the majority of the other members of her party. He dies the October 31st 1970 at the 60 years age, 15 days after an heart attack which has occurred at the time of a speech at the Parliament.

He was President for two successive mandates of Food and Agriculture Organization of the Nations Plain.

He was Ministre and pioneer of the planning of Lebanon and imagined and developed tens of projects in Lebanon and in the world: The integral planning of water of Lebanon, the City of the Man, the Council of the Development of the South of which he was 1st President,…

Its projects are always of topicality several decades after its death and would get an economic and social expansion without precedent, if they are applied today.

Its nephew, Amine Gemayel, succeed to him like deputy of Metn and succeed his Béchir brother, as President of the Republic.

Pierre Amine Gemayel, the large-nephew of Maurice, was assassinates the November 21st 2006.
