Maurice David

Maurice David (1891 - 1974) was a pedagog, a lecturer, a literary critic and former resistant French.

Biography

Born in 1891 with Tonneins (Lot-et-Garonne) died with Paris in 1974, buried with Soumensac (Lot-et-Garonne). Incorporated letters, professor of college of 1919 to 1929, with Constantine, Algiers and Tunis. From 1929, he is inspector of Academy with Vesoul, Quimper and Carcassonne and appointed vice-rector of the Academy of Algiers in 1936. In 1940, it refuses to revoke the Jewish and communist teachers and itself is revoked by the General governor. Returned in metropolis, it becomes again inspector of Academy with Montpellier, it takes part in the movements of Résistance and is named Directeur of the Services of Lesson of the Seine to the Libération. Clear-sighted administrator, it will know, at this station, to adapt State education to the demographic trends of the Baby-boom. Pedagog attentive with the training of the child in all the academic but so artistic and sporting fields, he is cofounder, in 1946, with Henry Barraud of the Maîtrise from Radio France introducer, in France, with Doctor max Fourestier of the teaching and sporting half-time inspired by the Anglo-Saxon methods, and inventor of the first class of snow. Illustration of this pedagogy, his/her son, Andre David, will carry out a double career of doctor and musician. Author of many handbooks and works teaching like “Us and our children”. Lecturer, criticizes literary, President of the Company of the Authors of North Africa it publishes tests on Joseph Conrad, Stendhal, Charles Péguy and a novel “Mr Gaëtan Instituteur” which was inspired to him by its action in the Résistance.
