Maurice Colclough
Maurice John Colclough , born the September 2nd 1953 with Oxford (England) and deceased the January 27th 2006, was a player of Rugby to XV English evolving/moving at the station of second line.
This international English disputed 25 matches international with the team of England between 1978 and 1986. He took part thus in the conquest of the Large Slam in the tournament 1980 and formed an excellent second line with Bill Beaumont at the beginning of his career.
In club, he played for Liverpool, the London Wasps, Swansea and Angouleme. There remained however a long time with Swansea R.F.C and remains one of the figures of this club.
Career
Maurice continues off his studies at the school Duke York' S Royal Military School in Dover then joined the university of Liverpool or he plays for Liverpool RFC.Maurice Colclough is the first international English to be played in France when it joined the S.C. Angouleme in 1975. It was selected 25 times under the shirt of the XV of the Rose between 1978 and 1986. Maurice had also belonged to the rounds of the " Lions britanniques" in South Africa in 1980 and New Zealand in 1983.
Maurice Colclough played in team of England of 1978 to 1986 at the station of 2nd line. He makes his international beginnings with the 24 years age, on Sunday, March 4, 1978 against Scotland with Murrayfield where he left victorious 15 to 0 and replaces the veteran Nigel Horton.
In 1979 the English selectors prefer Nigel Horton to him to take part in the tournament of the 5 nations but Maurice makes his return in the team of England for defeat 10 to 9 against New Zealand to the autumn 1979.
In the beginning of the year 1980, because of a wound, it cannot take part in the 1st match of the tournament vis-a-vis in Ireland and is replaced by its old rival, Horton. Maurice Colclough makes his anticipated return and plays the last 3 matches and then forms part of one of the best second lines in the world with Bill Beaumontall. He gains the first Large Slam of England since 1957!
In 1981, Maurice Colclough plays the 4 matches of the tournament but England is unable to defend its title.
Colclough also takes part in 8 " test-matchs" with the Lions with 2 recoveries in 1980 and 1983 or, even by losing 7 of these 8 matches, it will be made a name under the red shirt. In 1983 during the tests matches against the Zealand News, it has been the only one to mark a test for victory 15 to 9 over All Blacks in Twickenham, first English victory in residence over the blacks for 47 years!
Maurice Colclough played much for Wasps, Angouleme and Swansea or it will become an emblematic figure for the Welsh fans.
He plays his last international match vis-a-vis in France on March 15th, 1986 or he loses 10 to 29.
Maurice left us at the 52 years age of the continuations of a long illness on January 27th, 2006.
He leaves behind him his Annie wife and his five children.

It had its first international cape the March 4th 1978, at the time of a match against the team of Scotland and it disputed its last selection the March 15th 2006, obtaining 25 international capes.It takes part in the round of the British Lions in 1980 in of South Africa and in 1983 in New Zealand.
It has marked the single test of the team of England at the time of a historical victory against the New Zealand, 15-9, the first victory in residence of England against New Zealand for 47 years!!!
