Maurice Benayoun

Artist numerical plastics technician Art French born with Mascara (Algeria) the March 29th 1957. Maurice Benayoun lives and works with Paris.

Creations of Maurice Benayoun were largely exposed and rewarded in the museums and the international demonstrations. Cofounder in 1987 of Z-A, company/laboratory which played during 15 years a pioneer part in the field of the new media, of the synthesized image, virtual reality, numerical creation and the interactive museography.

It realizes between 1990 and 1993 the series Quarx in collaboration with François Schuiten, the very first series in synthesized image 3D high-definition largely diffused and rewarded on the international plan. It is in 1993 prize winner of the Villa Médicis out the walls for its HEART project.

After Browsable Museum , collection of contemporary art actually virtual. As of this time it carries out interactive artistic installations calling upon the virtual reality of which: the Great Questions (1994-96), the Tunnel under the Atlantic , historical event of televirtuality connecting the Museum of Contemporary art of Montreal and the Pompidou center to Paris. In 1998, it receives the Nica Golden delicious of the interactive art of the festival Ars Electronica for the installation World Skin, a photo safari with the country of the war . This two work was received by criticism like major events of the interactive Art.

Parallel to his artistic activity, Maurice Benayoun takes part in the design, the realization of the interactive Scénographie of many exposures, events and projects architectural. We will note the Room of Navigation (1997) of the exposure Nouvelle image, new networks, and the Membrane (2001) of the exposure the Man Transformed for the City of Sciences of the Villette, the Panoramic Tables of Planet off Visions, World Fair of Hanover (EXPO2000), the multi-media Course of the abbey of Fontevraud, Cosmopolis, Overwrting the City on the city and the développementdurable, the permanent exposure of Triumphal arch in Paris.

Incorporated Visual arts, he teaches of 1984 to 2002 it video of creation and new the media at the university Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne. In 1996 to 1997 he is artist invited to the 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of Beautiful arts of Paris. He is * also cofounder and artistic director of CITU, Création Interactive Transdisciplinaire Universitaire where he continues his research activity, of creation and reflection on the emerging mediae.
