Maulette is a common French, located in the department of the Yvelines and the area Île-de-France.

Geography

The commune of Maulette is halfway located at 50 km of Paris, in the west of the department of Yvelines, between Mantes-the-Pretty and Rambouillet, with the limit of the department of Eure-et-Loir. Towards the west, it surrounds Houdan on a good part of its periphery, since the North-East until the south. The other communes bordering are Richebourg in north, Bazainville in the North-East, Gambais in the east, Bourdonné in south-east, Dannemarie in the south, Champagne and Goussainville in south-east.

Its territory located at the borders of the Mantois and the Drouais is established in the valley of the Vesgre (affluent of the Eure) not far from its confluence with the Opton and is also crossed by two other affluents of Vesgre, the rus of Sausseron, coming from Richebourg in north and Moquesouris. These rivers contributed to the creation of an undulating relief.

This territory primarily rural (to 84%) and is devoted mainly to the cereal field crop. It is timbered very little, approximately 5%, primarily in the content of the valley of Vesgre.

The habitat is concentrated in the contiguous borough with the agglomeration of Houdan, along the secondary road 912, ex trunk road 12, and secondarily in the hamlet of Thionville-on-Opton, in the southern part of the commune. It includes/understands primarily individual dwellings.

The commune is with a crossroads of communication to the crossing of the RD 912 and the RD 983, which connects Mantes-the-Pretty to Nogent-the-King. It moreover is crossed in the East-West direction by the new layout of the Trunk road 12, way with highway characteristics which circumvents by the south the agglomeration of Houdan and which lays out of an exchanger in the commune of Maulette with the crossing with the secondary road 983.

It is also crossed by the Paris-Granville line, but not having station into clean, is served by the Gare of Houdan, which makes it possible thanks to the Transilien to join Paris-Montparnasse in approximately 55 minutes. These means of transport contribute to integrate the commune in large the Parisian Banlieue.

Economy

Maulette a long time lived only of the Agriculture, on the one hand the production of fresh vivres (vegetables, animals of Basse-cour, etc) which ran out easily at the markets of its neighbor, Houdan, on the other hand, as the remainder of the Mantois, it is a privileged place of cereal productions.

Was added there since a score of years an marketing activity which covers the whole of Houdanais with the establishment of several large surfaces where all kinds of current products are sold. Finally some craftsmen are established in the commune.

History

In 1964, the commune of Thionville-on-Opton was removed and attached to Maulette.

Inheritance

  • Saint-Pierre Church: church with simple nave overcome by a bell-tower with hexagonal bulb.
  • Saint Nicolas's Day Church: building of XVe century located at Thionville, truncated whose only bedside was preserved.
  • Castle of Maulette: construction of XVIe century on a floor, flanked of two turrets of angle and whose commun runs are used as farm.
