Maubec (Vaucluse)

Geography

Maubec is a borough of the Regional natural park of Luberon, located at 8 kilometers of Cavaillon and at approximately 30 kilometers of Avignon.

Transport

The trunk road 100 master key in northern edge.

Secondary roads 2,3,178 cross the territory of the commune and secondary roads 29 and 144 pass by the village.

The commune also has of an old way of railroad and a now unused station.

Relief and Geology

In the south of the commune the buttresses of Luberon until the top of Fourcats rise.

The alluvial plain of the Calavon extends from the center until the north of the commune

The Calavon crosses the commune of is in west.

History

Site used with the Neolithic (Burial with the cave Mallet with discovered funerary mobiler)

Cité au 12th century: " Malbec".

At the 13th century, Stronghold initially divided between various Co-lords of which known in the past is Bernard de Claret (1251).

At the end of the 15th century, single Seigniory of Brancas which will last until the Révolution. The 14th century was a long succession of disasters: three epidemic S of Plague, the War of One hundred Years and its after-effects (Truck drivers), the Dryness, two Famine S… During the wars of religion, the village was taken and set fire to; the inhabitants deserted the places little by little and, at the end of the 19th century, settled in the Plaine at some distance from the old borough, completely abandoned.

The lion is that of the family of Brancas.

Town planning

Since more than one about thirty year, many urban development project were born (allotment, retail park, etc). The two principal ones are located: around the village (which itself developed in the north and the feet of the old village) and on the place Coustellet says.

Economy

The commune profits from all trade on site with, inter alia, an important retail park in extension on Coustellet.

Always on the commune, two viticultural co-operatives and two agricultural cooperatives. The important buildings of the distilling of Coustellet can see kilometers with the round.

Park of activity of the ZAC of Tourail (26 batches). Gravel and sand pit in edge of Calavon.

Tourism

Like the majority of the communes of Vaucluse, but especially of the sector of the Park of Luberon, part of the incomes of the commune is obtained thanks to tourism. Several lodgings, furnished with tourism, rooms of hosts and municipal camp-site (2 stars, 75 sites).

Agriculture

On the commune are mainly cultivated vine (AOC coast of Luberon, local wines and table wines), the fruit-lofts (cherry trees) and them asparaguses.
