Matton (river)
The Matton is small a French Rivière which runs in the department of the the Ardennes (08). It is an affluent of the Aulnois out of left bank, therefore a tributary of a tributary of the Meuse by Aulnois, then the Chiers.
Geography
Matton is born in wood from Banel, on the territory of the commune of Matton-and-Clémency, locality located in the department of the the Ardennes, within the extremely sprinkled areas of the southern edge of the Massif inhabitant of the Ardennes. It runs the North-East towards south-west over a length of almost eight kilometers, and is thrown in the Aulnois (left bank) on the territory of the town of Carignan, little before the confluence of Aulnois with the Chiers.

Hydrology
The average interannual flow or module of Matton, with the confluence with Aulnois is worth 0,765 m ³ a second for a catchment area of 40,6 km ². The Lame of water past in the basin is of 594 millimetres, which is high but corresponds to the standards of the rivers of the area (Semois, Aulnois…). It is definitely higher than the average of France, all confused basins, and also with the average of the French basin of the Meuse (450 millimetres with Chooz, at the exit of the French territory). Its specific Flow or Qsp is assembled consequently to the high figure of 18,84 liters a second and per square kilometer of basin.
