Matrika Prasad Koirala
Matrika Prasad Koirala is a Politician Nepalese, born on January 1st 1912 with Bénarès (India), dead the September 11th 1997 with Katmandou.
He exerted the functions of Prime Minister of Nepal twice:
- of the November 16th 1951 with the August 14th 1952 (functions cumulated with those of Foreign Minister);
- of the June 15th 1953 with the April 14th 1955.
President of 1950 with 1952 of the Nepalese Congress, left rested by his brother Bishweshwar, it leaves this party to found, in 1953, the Rastriya Janata Parisad , which it will chair until his death.
First of five wire of Krishna Prasad Koirala and Divya Koirala, he is the brother of:
- Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala (1914-1982), Prime Minister from May 27th, 1959 to December 15th, 1960,
- Girija Prasad Koirala (1925-), Prime Minister with four recoveries:
- of the May 26th 1991 with the November 30th 1994;
- of the April 15th 1998 with the May 31st 1999;
- of the March 22nd 2000 with the July 26th 2001;
- since the April 28th 2006.
He is also the great-uncle of Manisha Koirala (born in 1970, grand-daughter of Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala), actress, director and producing of Bollywood, former itinerant ambassadress of the Fonds of the United Nations for the population.
