Mathusalem (in Hebrew מְתוּשֶׁלַח " matushela' h") is famous to be the oldest person mentioned in the Old Testament. Its name became synonymous with longevity. The Genèse lends 969 years of life thus to him. One can put the question to know, according to the Bible, if the Déluge had not occurred, if it would have continued to live longer. Mathusalem is also the father of Lamech and the grandfather of Noah (patriarch).
