Mathurin Jousse (1607 - 1650) was a French technical writer.

He wrote a treaty of Serrurerie in which he reasoned the choice of material by using receipts, and in particular the use of the Fer according to the aspect of its break, thus inaugurating the beginning of a long tradition which, through Réaumur, was to lead to the Métallographie. In 1627 it writes the Théâtre of the art of the carpenter . D' Alembert, in its “ preliminary Speech with the Encyclopedia ”, presents the technique of last as “the unable to be expressed clearly on the instruments which it uses ”. Beside works of Agricola (Re mettalica , 1556), of Besson ( Theater of the mechanical instruments , 1578) or of Kunckel ( Ars vitraria expérimentalis , 1679), the treaty of Mathurin Jousse shows that the technique, well before the 18th century, in many fields included/understood and was already often synthesized
