Mathilde of Portugal

Mathilde of Portugal (1157 - 1218), known also under the name of Thérésa, girl of Alphonse Henriques (1109 - 1185), first king de Portugal and of Mathilde (1125 - 1157), countess of Savoy and Maurienne.

In 1177, it marries the count of Flanders Philippe of Alsace

Become widowed in August 1191, it ensures the regency of the county and wife in 1193 Eudes III, duke of Burgundy.

In January 1195 it makes with the king of France Philippe II an agreement according to which the town of Douai will return to the crown after its death.

She intercedes favorably near the king of France in the project of marriage which will be carried out between Ferdinand of Portugal, her nephew, and her small niece by alliance, Jeanne of Constantinople.

She dies the May 20th 1218 close to Furnes in Belgium.
