Mathilde de Gueldre
Mathilde de Gueldre , born towards 1325, dead the September 21st 1384, was duchess of Gueldre and countess of Zutphen of 1371 with 1379. She was girl of Renaud II, duke of Gueldre and count de Zutphen, and of Sophie Berthout, lady of Malines.
She married in first weddings in 1336 in Godefroy de Heinsberg († 1347), wire of Thierry de Heinsberg, count de Looz and of Chiny.
Widow, she remaria before 1348 with Jean († 1368), count de Clèves.
Lastly, she marries in third weddings with Jean II of Châtillon († 1381), count de Blois. She did not have a child of her three husbands.
In 1371, his/her brother Renaud III died, and it succeeded to him like duchess of Gueldre and countess of Zutphen, but his/her sister Marie and her husband Guillaume VI of Juliers disputed the succession to him. After eight years of the War of succession of Gueldre, it was overcome and had to give up the Duché of Gueldre.
