Mathilde d\' Udekem d\' Acoz

Mathilde d' Udekem d' Acoz (born the January 20th 1973 with Uccle) is the woman of the crown prince to the crown of Belgium, Philippe. It is the girl of the count Patrick d' Udekem d' Acoz and of the countess Anne Komorowski, of Polish origin .

It passes a peaceful childhood to the castle of Rhombus (province of Luxembourg) in company of her three sisters and her brother. After primary studies at the Notre-Dame School of Bastogne, she attends the Institute of the Virgin Faithful to Brussels. In 1991, Mathilde chooses to study logopedics at the Institute Marie Haps (Brussels), where it obtains three years later her diploma with great distinction. While continuing studies of psychology to the catholic University of Leuwen, it opens a cabinet of Logopédie in the Belgian capital. Like all its family, Mathilde is marked in 1997 by the death of his/her maternal grandmother and her sister Marie-Alix (23 years) in an car accident.

Mathilde d' Udekem d' Acoz became princess of Belgium and duchess of the Brabant by its marriage, the December 4th 1999, with the prince Philippe of Belgium, heir to the throne. It stops its career of Logopède.

The couple settles with the Château of Laeken and has three children: Elisabeth (born the October 25th 2001), Gabriel (August 20th 2003) and Emmanuel (October 4th 2005), respectively second, third and fourth in the order of succession with the throne.

The Mathilde princess invests herself much in the social domain and pays many visits on the ground. With the gifts received at the time of its marriage, it created the Funds Princess-Mathilde, which gives each year an financial aid to three projects likely to improve the situation of the vulnerable people. Abroad, it took part in 2002 in the 2nd World conference of the United Nations on the rights of the child to New York, it carried out humane missions in Africa (Niger in 2004, Mali in 2005 and Tanzania in 2006) and it was indicated emissary for the promotion of the microphone-credit in the world in 2005. Lastly, the Mathilde princess agreed to be representing it special UNICEF and of Onusida for the children affected by this terrible virus.

The Mathilde princess grants her High patronage to Handicap International Belgium, S.O.S Villages of child-Belgium, the Association of parents for the blooming of the autistic children, ONG Plan Belgium, like with the asbl the Friends of the Royal Theater of the Currency.

The Mathilde princess is the godmother of the Alexia princess of the Netherlands (2005), girl of the crown prince Willem-Alexander and the Máxima princess, and Isabella of Denmark (born in 2007), girl of the crown prince Frédérik and the Mary princess.
