Mathieu de Lesseps

Mathieu Prosper Count de Lesseps (Hamburg March 4th 1771 - Tunis December 28th 1832). Diplomat and civil servant French.

In 1801, it married with Havana (or Malaga) Catherine of Grivegrée of the Cover. He is the father of Ferdinand de Lesseps.

He was initially French Consul with the Morocco. He joined the army of Egypt in 1800 as a police chief of the commercial relations. He was general police chief with Leghorn then imperial police chief with Corfou of May 1810 in June 1814, under Donzelot.

He was after 1815 Consul-general in Syria, then with Tunis where he died.
