Mathieu Ier de Montmorency
Mathieu Ier de Montmorency (v. 1100 - 1160), was lord of Montmorency, of Écouen, Marly-the-King, Conflans-Holy-Honorine and Attichy. It was also Connétable of France of 1138 with 1160 under Louis VII the Young person.
He was the oldest son of Bouchard III of Montmorency and Agnes of Beaumont-on-Oise, lady of Conflans-Holy-Honorine.
In first weddings, towards 1126, it marries Aline or Alix, illegitimate girl of the king Henri Ier of England, which gives him six children:
- Henri († 1160).
- Bouchard IV of Montmorency, († 1189, Jerusalem), which marries in 1173 Laurette or Laurence de Hainaut († August 9th 1181), girl of the count Baudouin IV of Hainaut. They will have a son Mathieu II of Montmorency called Large the
- Thibaud de Montmorency († 1189, Jerusalem)
- Herve de Montmorency († March 25th 1192). Abbot of Saint Martin's day de Montmorency, then Deacon in Paris.
- Mathieu de Montmorency († August 27th 1204, Constantinople).
- Aelis, wife of Gasce of Poissy († August 14th 1189).
Mathieu de Montmorency marries in second weddings Adèle of Savoy (or Alix, or Adelaide) (1100 - 1154), widow of the king Louis VI '' the Large ''. Adele of Savoy is the girl of the count de Savoie, Humbert II and of Gisele of Burgundy, sister of the pope Calixte II.
