Mathias Schurer
Mathias Schurer (1470, Sélestat - 1519) is an Alsatian printer .
He is the pupil of Crato Hoffman, and becomes Master are arts of the Université of Cracow. He learns the trade from printer near Martin Flach, his cousin, then of Hans Knoblauch, his uncle. He is the uncle of Lazare Schurer.
Installed on its account with Strasbourg in 1508, it published almost only humanistic texts , including 70 editions of fifteen of the works of Erasme, his faithful friend. It is also the first printer of Strasbourg to publish texts in Greek old.
Lazare became the associate of his uncle in 1518. With its death in 1519, it makes transport the presses and the typographical material in Sélestat.
