Mathenpoche

Mathenpoche is a collection of several hundreds of interactive exercises of Mathématiques, usable on computer. It covers the whole of the program of the French college. Its objective is to support work in autonomy of the pupils. It is diffused by association Sésamath. Only part of the software is under the license GNU LPG: levels 6th and 5th.

History

The idea of the development of Mathenpoche was born in 2002 to one moment when the mathematics professors of Sésamath association worked primarily on the mutualisation of documents and animations.

One of the members of Sésamath, François Loric, worked on a site of interactive exercises: http://membres.lycos.fr/francoisloric/

It appeared that joint work could make it possible to obtain an exhaustive product, and of better quality.

Quickly, a community of users was created. Initially, this one made it possible to correct the errors and to carry a glance criticizes general on the software. In the second time, part of the members of this community met to produce paper documents accompanying the software. It is of the Cahiers Mathenpoche and the Manuel Sésamath.

Since 2002, Mathenpoche developed with the approximate rate/rhythm of a level per annum and it is expected that the program of college is entirely covered with the end of the year 2006.

Description

Mathenpoche is a whole of exercises. Each level contains several hundreds of them. A exercise is composed of 5 or 10 questions, and is accompanied by an animated help who points out the points of course to be known to solve the exercise.

Another characteristic of the software, it is the " presence; instruments virtuels" : a compass, a rule, a square, a rapporteur that the pupil can move to make constructions geometrical by using the same step as what it would make on his book. These instruments were insulated to make an independent software: InstrumenPoche.

In the same spirit, a software of geometry dynamic, TracenPoche, is encapsulated in certain exercises. It can however be used in an independent way.

Various versions

The single-user version

One can use this version of Internet site of Mathenpoche, or except connection while having downloaded the software beforehand. In this version, the results of the pupil are not recorded.

The version network

The professors and trainers can use this version while being registered (free) on the site of Mathenpoche, or that of their academy. Once registered, they can:

  • to manage their classes and their pupils;
  • to create personalized meetings;
  • to display the results on line;
  • to reach assessments by meeting and of the assessments by pupil.

The pupils can also know their results constantly.

It should be noted that it is also possible to install the version network in an establishment.

The version CD

It is a version marketed by the editor Génération 5. It is usable mainly in family setting. The scores of the pupil are recorded locally on the computer.

Mathenpoche and State education

A commission inter IREM was created in order to coordinate work of several groups of research devoted to this software. An Internet site is devoted to him.

Mathenpoche is used by many teachers of mathematics in France (more than 2000 being registered with the version network, figure of July 2006).

Ten academies installed Mathenpoche on waiters dedicated in order to ensure the follow-up of their teachers (meetings of presentation, assessments…).
