Mathematica is a Logiciel owner of formal Calcul published by Wolfram Research, the company of Stephen Wolfram.

Wolfram starts to work on the software in 1986 and the first version in 1988 leaves there. It is available on many platforms and supports a broad choice of operations.

The system of Mathematica is made of a core, which carries out calculations and can be carried out on another machine that of the user, and an interactive interface to enter the data. This one awaits entries of the user expressed in the language of Mathematica, according to a defined syntax, and posts the result of calculations in the form of simple text, formulas, or images.

In France, the software is with Maple present in the higher education.
