Matabeleland

The Matabeleland is a Région west and south-oeust of the Zimbabwe, located between the rivers Limpopo at the south and Zambezi at north.

The Province, of a Surface of 181.605 km ², was baptized at the 19th century according to the name of the dominant Ethnie of the Ndebele S which were essential in this area starting from 1834.

In 1992, Matabeleland counted 1.855.300 inhabitants.

Matabeleland is divided into two provinces: Northern Matabeleland and southern Matabeleland. The two most important cities are Bulawayo, capital historical of Matabeleland and Hwange.

The two provinces are mainly rural. They draw their incomes from their farms (Blé, Tabac, Céréale S, Coton, Sucre). They also lay out both of important mining resources.
