Massimo Campigli
Massimo Campigli , of its true name max Hilenfeld, (Berlin, July 4th 1895 - Saint-Tropez, May 31st 1971) is an Italian painter .
Biography
Massimo Campigli was born from an unknown father and a Berliner mother, Anna Paolina Luisa Hilenfeld which, for sink the scandal, settles close to Florence. His/her mother marries later Giuseppe Bennet, citizen British. In 1909, the family settles with Milan It is only in 1910 that Campigli learns that he is natural child.In 1914, Campigli works as private secretary with the newspaper Corriere beyond Will be . Taken refuge with Venice during the war then returned in Milan, it carries out lithographies, illustrating poetries of Verlaine.
Campigli returns in 1949 to Paris with its family, settles street Delambre in Montparnasse, exposes to the Galerie of France and starts to remain with Saint-Tropez. Palazzo Reale of Milan presents a great retrospective of its work.
Giuditta Scalini dies in Saint-Tropez in 1966 of a long illness. Exposures of Campigli are carried out to Tokyo, Osaka, Paris, Rome and Milan and its painting is present in the principal international exhibitions. Starting from 1967 the painter shares his time between Rome and Saint-Tropez, where he dies on May 31st 1971 of an heart attack.
