Massasoit

Massasoit (C. 1590 - 1661) so known under the name of Ousamequin , (yellow Feather) was an Amerindian chief of the tribe of the Wampanoag, people living the dimensions of Massachusetts Bay and Cod Cape.

Massasoit, was born in the surroundings from current Bristol, Rhode Island. It formed an alliance with the colonists of the colony of Plymouth in 1621 and of Massachusetts Bay in 1638 and it helped the colonists of the Mayflower, saving them of the famine. After his death, his/her son Metacomet, took his succession.
