Massaranduba is a city Brésil ienne north of the State of Santa Catarina. It is located at a Latitude of 26º 36 ' 38" south and with a Longitude of 49º 00 ' 30" west, with a Altitude of 38 meters. Its population is estimated at: 13592 inhabitants in 2006. The municipality extends on 373 km ².
General information
The name of Massaranduba comes from a certain species of pink tree of color which existed in the area. She knew like the capital of the Riz of the State of Santa Catarina. The city occupies the 3rd rank with the classification of the municipality of the country with regard to the Indice of human development (IDH).
History
The colonization of Massaranduba remains a mystery. It is known only that, around 1870, the first German immigrants settle in the area of Campinha and Patrimônio. A few years later arrive of the immigrants Polish.
