Massacre of Marzabotto

The massacre of Marzabotto is a Massacre perpetrated between the September 29th and the October 5th 1944, by the Waffen-SS of the the 16th division S of pomegranates Panzer carried out by the commander Walter Reder in Emilie-Romagna close to Bologna. It is above the plain on the buttresses of the the Apennines, in the boroughs of Marzabotto, Monzuno and of Grizzana that was held to it sinister exaction. One counted 955 dead, it is the most fatal massacre of civilians perpetrated by the Nazi S in Western Europe.

Among the victims, 45 had less than 2 years, 110 less than 10,95 less than 16. 142 had more than 60 years. There were 316 women and 5 priests.
