Mass of weapon

See also: Mass (homonymy)

The mass of weapon is a weapon made up of a heavy mass hung at the end of a more or less long stick. Arms close to the club, derived from the tool Masse, it was one of the first Arme S used by humanity.

The mass was refined in the current of the Moyen-âge. Although profiting from a reduced lengthening-piece, its power of shock made it possible to break the bones, making protections flexible such as the coats of mail inoperative, also inserting the helmets and rigid parts of armours.

There exist weapons close, but equipped with chains: the Plague of weapons or stars of the morning ( morgenstern ).
