Mass concentration

The mass concentration , or content is the mass in gram of aqueous solution per liter of solution. Its symbol is τ (tau in Greek) or Cm, and its unit is the Gram by Liter (G·L-1).

\ tau = \ frac {m} {V}

However a relation binds the molar Concentration and the mass concentration:

\ tau = C \ cdot M

This can be shown simply:

\ tau = \ frac {m} {V} = \ frac {N \ cdot M} {V} = \ frac {N} {V} \ cdot M = C \ cdot M
