Maskinongé (regional municipality of county)

Maskinongé is a regional Municipalité of county Canadian of the Province of the Quebec of the administrative area of the Mauricie. It is made up of 17 municipalities. The chief town of the MRC is Louiseville.
Its prefect is Jean-Paul Diamond who cumulates also the function of mayor of Saint-Alexis-of-Mounts.
History

the MRC was creates January 1st 1982, it is made up of the canton of Hunterstown; municipality of Belleau; parishes of Saint-Alexis-of-Mounts, Holy-Angele, Holy-Anne-with Yamachiche, Saint-Antoine-of-the-River-of-Wolf, Saint-Barnabe, Saint-Edouard, Saint-Joseph-with-Maskinongé, Saint-Justin, Saint-Leon-the-Large, Saint-Paulin cheese, Saint-Severe and Holy-Ursule; and of the villages of Louiseville, Maskinongé, Saint-Paulin cheese and Yamachiche.
- January 1st 2002, it is joined by the municipalities of Cart, Saint-Boniface and Saint-Mathieu-of-Park and of the parishes of Saint-Etienne-of-Sandstone and Saint-Élie during dissolutions of the MRC of Francheville and the Center-with-the-Mauricie.
- January 15th 2005: Saint-Élie changes his name for municipality of Saint-Élie-with-Caxton.
