Maserati Racing
Type 331 Br 204R
R like Racing, ever approved in France, except on a purely isolated basis!
" Racing" is not the name of a wind as those which were used to baptize the various Maserati models, but Racing is certainly able to make some… much!
Last born of the family Biturbo imagined by Alejandro De Tomaso, built between 1990 and 1991 by the car manufacturer Italy N Maserati, the Maserati Racing precedes the Shamal (V8 3,2l biturbo) and the Ghibli II (V6 2l and 2,8l biturbo) introduced into 1991/1992.
The last versions of Biturbo are called " x.24V" in 1989….
This model, Racing, is the final evolution of the 2.24v (2 doors) and of the 4.24v (4 doors), it made it possible to test the last improvements:
- of engine,
- of frame,
- of style.
The Biturbo last, the last of Biturbos
Racing :
-
was the ultimate improvement of the 2.24v,
- was sold about 75.285.000 Liras Italian, that is to say 37.500 Euros, in 1991,
- was intended only for the Italian market, although one finds of them one (very small) little everywhere in Europe, now, some with a catalytic pot as in Germany,
- was built only with 230 specimens,….but how much does it remain about it today?
-
. .tout by preserving the attributes of Biturbos!

Built, it also, of many specimens (very) counted, the Barchetta existed in version road (stradale, 305cv, undoubtedly only one prototype) and in version circuit (corsa, 315cv, undoubtedly 15 units of series and a prototype), this car take again the mechanical part of Racing (AM490 - > AM501) placed at the center on a frame beam, integrating the fuel tank, on which comes to be grafted a very light body. It was drawn by the office of design " Synthesis design" implied in several projects of sporting vehicles. A formula of competition monotype Maserati Grantrofeo existed in 1992 and 1993 in Italy (16 races on the whole).
