Mascarin of Maurice
The mascarin of Maurice ( Lophopsittacus mauritianus ) is a Psittacidé now disappeared formerly endemic with the Mauritius.
Its existence is proven by many bones and accounts of travellers. It was large and its not very assured flight. It was thus driven out much and it is there the most probable cause of its disappearance. Hoffman announces in 1680 that the last observations of the bird go back to 1673 with 1675.
Carrier of a broad nozzle, it is sometimes called parrot Mauritian .
