Comment

Its drawings abound in details, but are blow sometimes rather difficult to decipher. It enjoys to gear down the intrigues and to get mixed up the stories, and one loses sometimes the wire. It places in its stories of many comments, that is to say on the realism of the situation, why certain details, or on its vision of the company.

Shirow places in its manga of many very sensual women, even sexual, as well by the attitude as by the actions (some pages of Ghost in the Shell were thus censured in France by the editor, being a little too raw). Beyond the characters, it expresses an obvious interest for technology (by its Mecha particular, the landmates ) and the policy.

It is the same for sexuality for the title Manmachine Interface , famous in France by Glénat Ghost in the Shell 2 , but that Shirow regards a history parallel with the principal title and not as its direct continuation. There are two editions in Japan: one limited contained in a box, said “short version”, with scenes Hentai , and a traditional edition, where the scenes hentai were replaced by other pages, hand even of the author and comprising a new final chapter entirely colors.

Ghost in the Shell was adapted twice on big screen by Mamoru Oshii ( Ghost in the Shell , 1995 and Ghost In The Shell: Innocence , 2004).

A telefilm animated (OAV, 1999) and a cartoon film in synthesized images (November 2004) on Appleseed also left. Dominion Tank Organizes also was entitled to an adaptation, initially a series of four telefilms of animation (OAV) in 1988, then a new series of six OAV in 1993 (Tokusô sensha-tai Dominion) . Even Black Magic was entitled to a film in 1987 (left directly in video to France).

A series animated in two seasons also exists: Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex (SAC). It follows the actions of Section 9 in various intrigues. The episodes are of two types: Stand Alone (simple episodes) or Complex (belonging to the same intrigue). The episodes Complex follow the case of Laughing Man, an old case six years which was not elucidated. The series, where Motoko Kusanagi, Batou, Togusa, Aramaki, Tachikoma appear, and the remainder of the team, seem to be before the two feature films.

In 2006 a third film leaves: " GITS SAC - 3rd Gig: Solid state society" , realized by the team of the television series, and whose action is two years after the second season (2nd Gig). The history takes again elements of the manga " Ghost in the Shell 1.5: Human-error processer" (appeared in France at Glénat) telling the investigations of section 9 after the departure of Motoko Kusanagi.
