Mary Walsh is an actress, scenario writer, playwright, producing, metteure in scene and Canadian director born the May 13rd 1952 with St John' S (Canada).
Biography
After beginnings in a troop of amateurs, Mary Walsh integrates the Newfoundland Travelling Theater Company (NTTC) and meets the future members of the troop CODCO . It follows the courses of dramatic art of Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, Toronto, and plays in, Cod one has Stick with the Theater Passes Wall with the NTTC, the part gains such a success that the CBC records of it a radiophonic version in 1974, followed by a round with Ground-New-and-Labrador. The troop takes then as name CODCO (for Cod Company ) and decides to be established in Newfoundland.
In 1986, group CODCO starts to work on a series of half an hour television programs for CBC of 1988 with 1993, Mary Walsh will use part of the parts which she wrote for CODCO in this emission entitled Wonderful Grand Band .
Mary Walsh also occurs with other theater companies: the Theater Passes Wall, the Center of experimental theater of St John' S (LSPU Hall), Factory Theater of Toronto, Centaur Theater of Montreal, the National center of arts of Ottawa, the Large Theater of London (Ontario)…
After the dissolution of the CODCO in 1993, Mary Walsh proposes a news weekly satirical review in Salter Street Films: This Hour Has 22 Minutes. The emission becomes one of the Canadian televised productions most popular, Mary Walsh incarnates itself there some of its memorable characters. The emission gains nineteen price Gemini .
In addition to its active participation with This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Mary Walsh also animates the emission Mary Walsh: Open Book on television of CBC. It has also the high-speed motorboat in many films and made appearances with television programs, in particular Random Passage and Dooley Gardens . It receives honorary ranks of the University Memorial of Newfoundland and Trent University, in 2000 it is named Membre about Canada.
