Mary Robinson

Mary Robinson (in Irish: Máire Mhic Róibín ) was born the May 21st 1944 in Ballina (county of Mayo), Ireland. It was the first woman chair of Ireland of the December 3rd 1990 the September 12th 1997 and the seventh nobody to occupy the supreme office. It was also high commissioner of the the United Nations for the Human rights (of 1997 with 2002).

Youth

Mary Robinson studied with Trinity College with Dublin then with King' S In. She also studied with the Université of Harvard. Returned to Ireland, she taught the European right to Trinity College. Lawyer of formation and profession, Mary Robinson quickly engaged in policy. She fought to defend fundamental freedoms as well as the human rights.

Political career

Mary Robinson was initially elected with the Sénat like independent in 1969 and belonged to the Upper House until in 1989 but was beaten like candidate of the workers party to the Dail in 1977 and 1981. She was also member of the Municipal council of Dublin.

She published writings concerning the right of the family and the constitutional questions. The workers party made its candidate in December 1990 of it.

Honors and distinctions

Mary Robinson is currently “Chancellor” of the Trinity College (Dublin).

The June 8th 2006, it accepted the Prix Prince of Asturies of Social sciences by its important contribution for the development for good of Humanity. She is member of the High council of the Francophonie

Robinson is also Docteur Honoris Causa of the University Rennes 2 High Brittany

It also counts among the founding members of the ethical, political and scientific Collegium international, association which wishes to bring answers intelligent and suitable until the people of the world vis-a-vis the new challenges of our time wait.
