Mary Leakey
Mary Leakey (1913 - 1997), born Nicol, is a Paléontologue and Archéologue having devoted his research to the old Préhistoire of the East Africa. It was also the wife of Louis Leakey.
She made the important discovered ones of Homo erectus and Australopithèque S (of which Zinj, put at the day with Louis in 1959 and old men of 1,8 million years) on the site of Olduvai in Tanzania, that she took again in load after the disappearance of Louis.
She is also famous for the study, starting from 1978, of the traces of steps of three Hominidé S Bipède S (of the Australopithecus afarensis ?) fossilized in volcanic ash with Laetoli in Tanzania. This track is that of three individuals of different stoutnesses ( to see detailed article Laetoli).
The son of Mary and Louis, Richard Leakey, was also a famous paleontologist before devoting himself to the policy of the Kenya.
