Martina Kämpfert was champion of Europe junior on 800 m in 1977. With the Olympic Games of summer of 1980 with Moscow, it carried out its best performance into 1 ' 56" 21 by finishing fourth behind the Soviet triplet formed of Nadezhda Olizarenko, Olga Mineyeva and Tatyana Providokhina.
