Martina Hellmann

Martina Hellmann , born Opitz the December 12th 1960 with Leipzig, is old a German athlete , lanceuse of disc, which contributed for the German Democratic republic. She was Olympic champion in 1988 with Seoul and double champion of the world.

Martina Hellmann was already at sixteen years lanceuse of disc very gifted. In 1977, she pronounced the oath of opening to the spartakiades of youth. The same year with a jet to 55.00 m, it established the best world performance for a sixteen year old athlete. Its career was often stopped by wounds or diseases until in 1983, it gained the championship of the world. She did not take part in the plays of Los Angeles following the boycott of the German Democratic republic.

September 6th, 1988, it reaches with 78.14 m the best mark ever reached by lanceuse of disc. It was at the time of a competition of drive in Berlin, this is why this throw could not be regarded as world records.

After the Olympic Games of summer of 1992 where it was eliminated in qualification, it stopped the competition.
