Martin de Villamil
Felipe Martin de Villamil or Martin Villamil (" Gonzalez of Galea there Villamil" of its true name or " Villamil Joly" by adding the name of his/her mother according to the Spanish use) (1783-1843) was trader in the Caribbean and in Europe.
Martin de Villamil in the Caribbean
Martin de Villamil, brother of the Ecuadorian hero Jose de Villamil, was born with the New-Orleans in 1783, wire of a trader of the city which had already defrayed the chronicle. He becomes negotiating itself in the the Caribbean.In 1809, he marries the girl of the lieutenant of the king with Panama. Its association with British will raise the concern of certain members of the local authorities which see in him a head of bridge of the British influence in Panama (1).
Ves 1812, it is one of the cofounders of the consulate of trade of Carthagène (2).
It settles then with the Jamaica, where it has plantations of cane with sugar.
Martin de Villamil in Europe
From there, Martin de Villamil and his family will gain Europe: Londre, Paris, Italy (Bologna, Florence). About 1820-1822, it will accommodate in its villa of Sevres, close to Paris, the large poet irlando-British Thomas Moore (1779-1853) (3).In 1830, Martin Villamil will meet in Paris the general Francisco of Paula Santander (1792-1840), hero of the independence of Large-Colombia, which quotes it in its memories (4).
In Bologna, it is perhaps British consular agent. In any case, Mrs Martin de Villamil, in Florence, had the confidence of former king de Westphalie, Jerome Napoleon which, while going away, entrusted the guard of his/her daughter, the Princesse Mathilde to him, and of its house (the family of Jerome Bonaparte would have lived in Florence of 1830 to 1840).
Martin de Villamil dies in Paris in 1843.
His/her Emily daughter will marry the artist Louis Marc Bacler of Alba. He is also the large father of the British scientist Richard de Villamil and the back grandfather of scintic French Alfred Lartigue.
