Martin Veillette
Mgr Martin Veillette (November 16th 1936 with Tuque, Quebec -) is a Théologien, a Philosophe, a Sociologue, a Professor and a Man of the church Québécois. He is the bishop of the Diocèse of Three-Rivers.
Born in a family from eleven children, he studies with the Séminaire Saint-Joseph and with the Université Laval, where he obtains his baccalaureat are arts.
It is ordered priest with Three-Rivers the June 12th 1960. After studies of philosophical license to the Saint-Paul University of Ottawa, it obtains a baccalaureat in Social sciences in 1973.
He teaches with the Cégep of Three-Rivers and becomes cleaned with the Holy-Therese parish. Mgr Laurent Christmas gives him several important stations in the hierarchical organization diocésaine: it directs the office of the vocations, the office of the clergy and the Grand Seminar of Quebec and the committee diocesan with the permanent Diaconat.
The October 17th 1986, it is named titular bishop of Valabria. Mgr Louis-Albert Vachon is his principal consecrator and Mgr Laurent Christmas and Jean-Guy Hamelin are his principal Co-consécrateurs.
The November 21st 1996, Jean-Paul II appoints it bishop of Three-Rivers, moment when it succeeds Laurent Christmas. The Conference of the catholic bishops of Canada, it chairs the committee on the social communications and deals with the introduction of pastoral of the sea all while dealing with different the secular institutes.
To the Parliament of the bishops of Quebec, it corresponds with the association of the cemeteries roman catholics, chairs in the committees legislature and administrative and supervises the file of the missions.
In May 2006, it travels to Rome and meets the pope Benoît XVI, being said impressed its visit. The pope encourages to him to bring back the central place of Eucharistie in the liturgical celebration and to fight against the Sécularisme subjectivist.
In 2007, he is elected with the head of the Assemblée of the bishops of Quebec. He presents a testimony to the Commission Bouchard-Taylor in favor of an open secularity.
