Martin Lemay

Martin Lemay is a politician Québécois. He is the deputy pequist of Holy-Marie-Saint-Jacques to the National Assembly of Quebec.

He made his studies in Histoire and Social right with UQAM. He also receives a certificate of studies of second cycle in public Management with the National school of public administration.

Lemay made its beginnings in municipal policy. He is elected for the first time in 1994 like city council man. In 2001, he is president then mayor of district City-Marie until the elections of 2005. When Pierre Bourque tries to be elected appointed for the democratic Action of Quebec, he becomes the chief of the party Vision Montreal, then official party of the Opposition against the team of Gerald Tremblay.

In April 2006, he is elected in the strong Château of Claude Charron and André Boulerice at the time of a by-election in the district of Holy-Marie-Saint-Jacques in front of the liberal candidate Nathalie Malépart, itself girl of the former deputy Jean-Claude Malépart.

It was about the first poll in which the party Québec Solidaire took part. Lemay had received the support of SPQ Libre of Pierre Dubuc.

During this first short mandate of less than one year, Martin Lemay is spokesperson of the official opposition dwelling metropolis (Montreal).

With the Québécois general election of 2007, Martin Lemay is re-elected in the same district. Before the departure of Andre Boisclair as chief of the Québécois Party, it is named spokesperson of the second group of opposition as regards immigration and of the cultural communities and spokesperson of the second group of opposition for the metropolis.
