Martin Heinzelmann

Martin Heinzelmann (born in 1942 with Mannheim) is a German Historien .

He makes studies of history, German and political sciences with Heidelberg, Berlin and Mannheim, which he completes in 1967. In 1968, whereas Karl Ferdinand Werner takes the direction of the German historical Institut of Paris, it returns there as researcher, then becomes director of the review Francia (left Moyen-âge), the publication of the Institute, 1976 with 2005.

Its field of study relates primarily on the end of the Antiquité, and more especially to the statutes of the saints and the bishops of the end of the Roman Gaulle and the age mérovingien (IVe century - IXe century) and the study of the hagiographic sources.
