Martin Heinrich Klaproth

Martin Heinrich Klaproth was a German Chimiste born on February 1st 1743 with Wernigerode, and dead on January 1st 1817 with Berlin.

Biography

During part of its life, he exerted the trade of apothecary. After having been successively attending in pharmacy Quedlinburg, Hanover, Berlin and Gdańsk, it comes to Berlin to dead from Valentine Pink, in 1771, as director of its trade, and in 1780, it starts an establishment on its own account in the same city, where in 1782, he was the pharmaceutical assessor of Ober-Collegium Medicum. In 1787, he was the lecturer designated in Royal Artillery of Prussia. In 1802, he becomes chemistry teacher at the university of Berlin. He is indicated sometimes like the " father of chemistry analytique".

He discovered the Uranium in the Pechblende, the Zirconium in zircon and the Chrome in 1789. He discovered the Cérium in 1803.
