Martin Gerber , born the September 3rd 1974 with Burgdorf, is a guard of hockey Suisse.

Biography

It begins its career on October 26th, 1991 with the SC Signau, a team of 2nd league. It leaves then at the time of the season 1993-94 with the SC Thoune, in 1e league. At the time the season 1994-95, it is engaged as replacing guard of the SC Langnau which is assembled of 1st league in LNB. At the time of its first season with Langnau, it is used on the whole during 222 minutes. February 25th 1997, for the first time in Switzerland, it marks a goal as a guard (in the 3rd quarter-of-finale against Martigny: the 6:4 in the empty cage).

He saw on April 7th 1998 the promotion of the SC Langnau in LNA before following, summer 2001, his trainer Bengt-Ake Gustafsson in Sweden. He becomes champion with Färjestads BK and dominates all the statistics of guard of the country.

After being fished out in 8th round with the 232e position of the fishing out of entry in the National league of hockey by the Mighty Ducks d' Anaheim, he plays two seasons with Ducks. At the time of the '' lockout '' 2004-05 of the LNH, it returns to play in Europe for its two last professional teams: Langnau and Färjestads.

In 2005-06, it plays in the LNH for the Hurricanes of the Caroline. He plays all the season as a guard number one but at the beginning of the eliminatory Séries, he loses his place with the profit of Cam Ward. It gains all the same the Coupe Stanley and becomes the second player of Suisse origin to gain the prestigious trophy - the first being David Aebischer with the Avalanche of Colorado in 2001.

To stack becomes autonomous player on July 1st 2006 and it joined then the team of the Senators d' Ottawa where it côtoie Ray Emery with aims. Emery takes the high-speed motorboat to him and Gerber plays only one about thirty matches in the Saison LNH 2006-2007. The Senators arrive finally but are eliminated by Ducks d' Anaheim.

In Season LNH 2007-2008, it benefits from a wound with Ray Emery to take to him its station by recording only victories in the preparatory matches and by having a card of 8 victories and 1 defeat at the beginning of season.
