Martial Ménard

Martial Ménard is a linguist and Breton editor, considered as one of the best scholars in Breton language.

Breton militant

He was born with Paris in XIIIe district, and has a CAPE of cook. Militant of the Face of Release of Brittany, it is condemned by the Cour of state security to 7 years of prison in 1979 for a made attack the May 15th 1979 to Plouézec (Coast-in Armor) against the second home of the police chief Roger Taillanter, owner of the SRPJ of Rennes.

Editor and Breton journalist

It founds in 1983: Year Young stag, publisher. He is publication director of Brittany Info (Breizh Info) and director of the editions An Young stag, which repurchased the editions Al Liamm.

He directs in 1995 the edition of the first dictionary entirely in Breton language, simply entitled Geriadur brezhoneg (" dictionary of breton").

He was the first to reveal the seizure of a member of the office of the Front National, Mr. Fernand Le Rachinel on printing works briochine the Breton Presses and which printed the title Révision there, re-examined Révisionniste (lawsuit gained with the audience of the June 26th 1997, magistrates' court of Saint-Brieuc).

It publishes in 1998 the Memories of a low-Breton peasant of Jean-Marie Déguignet, best-seller unexpected.

Moreover, he was vice-president of editor association Breton, and member of the cultural Institut of Brittany (section “Language and linguistics”), and the author of many works on the Breton language. The editions An Young stag which it directed have since missing.

He holds the heading rear Skolig brezhoneg which tries to initiate with the Breton language by a simple and concrete approach in Ouest-France .

Polemic

This last will refuse to visit the stand of the cultural Institut of Brittany to the living room Expolangues with Paris to avoid meeting Martial Ménard, director d'" Year Young stag " , following the publication of a critical article published in Breizh Information, and declaring “I will never accept that one defends terrorism nor that of collaboration and the collaborators. ”
